A frosty 3rd April 1986 at Leek Brook Junction, with a pair of 20s on the Oakamoor sand train. The Churnet Valley steam line was still then a long term aim for the preservationists. We left the empties to work down the branch, then later photographed the loaded train -  firstly at Cheddleton, passing through the CVR station and heading away to the tunnel. Leading locomotive is 20 002, the other is 20 044. The train would run around at Leek Brook Junction, before heading back down the line to Stoke.  It is seen here near Endon.
May 1986 - a remarkable double header, in the shape of 3717 City of Truro and 6000 King George V, on a special heading north near Stokesay, then southbound near All Stretton
Telford branch lines, seen on 20 August 1986. The 31 is heading for the MOD depot at Donnington. The line was later closed and lifted - and has since been relaid and reopened to serve a new freight terminal and the MOD depot (wouldn't hindsight be a wonderful tool?) The 20s are joining the main line at Madeley Junction, having delivered their coal to Ironbridge power station. The leading loco is 20 001. Still open - but no more 20s.
25 August 1986 -  a trip to the Worth Valley Seen in action are Ivatt class 2MT no. 41241, leaving Keighley, then getting away from Haworth. Midland 4F 43924 is seen on the bank below Ingrow
