The household authorities were visiting
Edinburgh, for a trip to a museum which
was not particularly "up my street" (can't
remember exactly what, but I've a
feeling it involved doll's houses...) - so I
opted out and, arrangements made for a
rendezvous later in the day, headed for
Waverley. I'd spent the odd minute there
before, but never really had time to get the feel of the
place. Here are some pictures taken on
the occasion, starting with a walk via
Princes Street Gardens (who needs
miniature railways in the garden?).
Not a bad afternoon's entertainment - quite
a good variety of motive power, not to
mention the liveries, after years of rail
blue. And, to my mind, a real station - one
of the best in the country.
