“Summer Spectacle of Steam”

Back Contact Geoff
Last time I was here (March last year) I got soaked... The forecast for the weekend is good - let’s go for it! I may have missed one or two, but I counted eleven steam locomotives in action on the lines down to the loop, plus Victoria and Carol Ann on the 12¼”-gauge Mease Valley Light Railway. Also taking part was Carnegie, the 18”-gauge articulated Hunslet diesel ex- Woolwich Arsenal, trundling slowly up and down its line. Visitors for the event were Sir Tom, the Bagnall from
Geoff’s Rail Diaries
Threlkeld (WB 2135 of 1925) and Fowler 15513 of 1920 from the West Lancs Light Railway; the rest of the action was provided by a selection of now-familiar residents. Statfold has changed greatly as it has developed over the years, but these special events remain as great occasions for an enjoyable day out - it’s almost impossible to do justice to Statfold in a single day.
