All Stretton, on day 7 of the 9-day "Great Britain IV" tour - the
train has returned from its protracted visit to Scotland, and
today is travelling from Preston to Bristol - via the "North and
West". Here no. 5029 “Nunney Castle” is
seen making a slightly
laboured ascent
of the climb from Shrewsbury to Church Stretton
-only another mile or two and it will be whisking its way down to
Hereford. Colder air might have helped, photographically, or
perhaps a wisp of steam at the safety valves. Can't have
everything - much better conditions than we had in March for
the Duke...
(yes, the pictures run from right to left - because that's the
direction the train was travelling...)
