stop at Port Soderick. We would walk back to Douglas along the spectacular route of the Douglas Head Marine Drive tramway - see Port Soderick to Douglas on geoffspages.blog Link: Isle of Man Steam Railway
We caught the bus from Douglas to Peel - our intention being to visit the castle (see Day 2: Peel - the castle), though there are one or two remnants of the steam railway there too, and an interesting little exhibition commemorating the 150th anniversary of the railway’s opening. We returned to Douglas and made for the railway - in plenty of time to see the train from Port Erin arrive, hauled by no.13 Kissack. After a shed visit for coal and water, the same locomotive would haul the day’s last departure - which we would use to travel to the first
