A great start to the year’s rail-related entertainment - Jubilee
45699 “Galatea” would be hauling the “Welsh Borders” special
on the circular Crewe - Chester - Shrewsbury - Crewe route
(again!). The day didn’t start well - it was still wet and windy,
but there was a chance that it might clear later in the day.
Little more needs to be said. It would be a single-spot outing
(Battlefield) - fingers crossed for the sunshine - yes! A good
omen for the year, after an unbelievably soggy start?
