This weekend is “National Mills Weekend”, and numerous water- and windmills across the country are open to the public. Before we can visit any mills, however, there’s a steam-hauled special to contend with. It’s the “Welsh Marches Express”, hauled by that Bulleid pacific again - 34052 “Lord Dowding” (34046 “Braunton”…) The train should be passing the pond at Stokesay at about 10am - the sun will be on the right side, but (the forecast was too accurate) it will be clouding over by then. Can’t have everything - it’s dry, it’s bright, and this is a very pleasant spot for watching passing trains. Now for the watermills…
